1. Who we are
Will Writing Network is the trading name of Will Writing Network Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 09189360. Our registered office is 3 Chester Bridge, Crewe, England, CW2 7EF. You can contact us by email at info@willwritingnetwork.com or on WhatsApp at +44 7418 633816.
Our advisers work with clients across England and Wales. We do not prepare documents for people living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, where the law is different; if that applies to you, we will point you to a local specialist.
2. What we do, and what we do not do
We prepare wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), letters of wishes, advance decisions and related documents, and we offer supporting services such as will storage, registration and document reviews. Will writing and LPA preparation are not reserved legal activities and are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the Financial Conduct Authority.
Some work is reserved by law to authorised professionals, including preparing documents to transfer or register land at HM Land Registry and preparing applications for a grant of probate. Where your plans involve that kind of work, we will introduce you to an independent firm of solicitors authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. That firm will confirm its own terms, fees and complaints procedure to you before it starts, and it is responsible for the legal work it carries out.
We do not give tax advice or financial advice under these terms. Where a question needs it, we will tell you and suggest you speak to a suitably qualified adviser.
3. Prices and third-party fees
We will confirm the price for your work in writing before we start. Our prices are in pounds sterling and include any VAT that applies. Fees charged by third parties are paid in addition and are never part of our fee, including the Office of the Public Guardian registration fee for each LPA, the HM Courts & Tribunals Service fee for depositing a will, and any HM Land Registry or court fees.
Payment is due when you instruct us, unless we have agreed an instalment plan with you in writing.
4. Your right to cancel
If you instruct us online, by phone, by WhatsApp or at your home, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the day we confirm your instruction, without giving a reason. To cancel, tell us clearly by email or WhatsApp. We will refund you within 14 days using the same payment method.
If you ask us to start work during the 14-day period and then cancel, we may deduct a fair amount for the work already done. If the work has been fully completed at your request within that period, the right to cancel no longer applies. Fees already paid to third parties, such as the Office of the Public Guardian, cannot be refunded by us.
5. Your part
- Give us full and accurate information, and tell us about anything that may affect your plans, such as property owned jointly or abroad, a business, previous marriages or children from earlier relationships.
- Read your documents carefully before signing and tell us straight away if anything is wrong.
- Sign your documents exactly as our instructions explain. A will must be signed in the presence of two independent witnesses, and an LPA must be signed in the order the Office of the Public Guardian requires. Documents that are not signed correctly may not be valid.
- Review your documents when your circumstances change. Marriage, for example, cancels an existing will.
6. Our part
We will prepare your documents with reasonable care and skill, based on the information you give us, and explain how to sign them. One round of changes to your draft is included. We will tell you if we think a product is not right for your circumstances.
7. Storage and reserve executor
Where you choose a storage or deposit service, we will keep your documents securely or lodge them as agreed. If you appoint Will Writing Network as a reserve executor in your will, we will only act if your chosen executors cannot or will not, and any professional fees would be charged to the estate on a fixed-fee basis, not as a percentage.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. We are not responsible for losses caused by incorrect or incomplete information you give us, by documents not being signed or witnessed as instructed, or by changes in your circumstances or in the law after your documents are completed.
9. Complaints and law
If you are unhappy with our service, please follow our complaints procedure. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. How we use your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
